Home Based Business, What Type Of People Are They Best Suited For'

Millions of Americans are looking for a home based business to begin every day. Some fail, some succeed. Some enjoy the freedom that comes with having a home based business, others can't stand it. Why might this be'
Well, there are a number of explanations to this question, but one I would like to present one based on a principle I learned from a Business coach named Dr. Lance Wallnau. He defines four needs, or driving forces, that strongly dictate how people live their lives. The four needs in no particular order are Significance, Connection, Freedom, and Security. Dr. Wallnau purports that every person operates out of a primary need and a secondary need in which are some combination of two of the four just mentioned. For example, if your primary need is connection, you place a high value on having strong and healthy relationships with others. You may deeply fear rejection or being misunderstood. If your primary need is significance, you will be highly driven by the need to accomplish something of weight, value, and importance. Your greatest fear may be failure, or feeling like you have fallen short.
To integrate the topic of owning a Home Based Business back into the picture, think about those whose primary need is Freedom versus someone whose primary need is Security. The person whose primary need is freedom craves the unknown and often loves risk and adventure. A security need person is in many ways opposite, they often needing some sense of control over their future and what it will look like such as where they will live, what they will be doing, who they will be in relationship with, etc.
I (the author) have personally determined that my primary need is significance and my secondary is freedom. Therefore, I must be accomplishing something I feel is important and making a difference in this world. I am also driven by adventure and the unknown. I would much rather not know what the next 5 years of my life will look like than have it completely mapped out step-by-step.
In light of these principles, I have found that most of the time you find people in Home Based/Entrepreneural Type Businesses that have freedom as a primary or secondary need. They crave the time and financial freedom that Home Based Businesses at least potentially offer, and they also like the risk of not having any guarantees of their success or failure.
Those whose primary or secondary need is security I have found are much more often in the everyday work force, working eight to five jobs, with a lifestyle that is somewhat predictable and routine. Freedom needs people would smother in such a predictable, seemingly monotonous lifestyle to them while security needs people would detest the unknown and potential dangers of the entreprenuarial, Home Based Business Lifestyle.
I am obviously making some over-generalizations with these, but it is for the purpose of helping you to maybe better understand what your primary and secondary needs are so that you can better arrange your life to suite these needs. We should not feel bad for having such needs, whichever ones they may be. They are what make us human. We will be happiest when we can recongnize our primary and secondary needs, live lives that reflect the fulfillment of those needs but never feel that we have to compromise our values in order to see them met.
