Self Improvement -The Best Way To Choose A Product Or System.
The market is flooded with self improvement products and systems. With the advent of internet and affiliate marketing there is no shortage for the products or self proclaimed self improvement experts who will deliver you the ultimate self improvement system at exorbitant price.Over the years, I have tried many things- Auto suggestion, visualization, hypnotic therapy, meditation. Spent hundreds of dollars on self improvement courses, seminars, CDs and books. Chased many online marketing and spiritual gurus to be blessed with that ever elusive financial and spiritual nirvana.
I am not saying that everything I tried was bad. Some of them are very good at what they wanted to accomplish. I feel that as I walked through my various stages of my life, they had some purpose and served me in some manner. They alleviated some of my problems to some degree. But none of them offered me the ultimate self improvement, wealth, feeling of happiness and a life of fulfillment and peace they promised.
Most of the courses offered the same old techniques that you could have learned just by doing a google search for key word "self improvement" and visiting the websites. Of course, the author's flair and passion for the subject, his leadership and the ability to present the the subject in a unique manner and the ability to motivate his readers and students played a major role on the success and effectiveness of the program. But as the time passed on those effects worn off and I could not build on the improvements I gained from a particular system or teacher.
The other part of the equation was me - the student. The success of the program or self improvement system depended on my ability and willingness to learn and improve myself. It also depended on my mindset and perspective. If the teacher or mentor adopted a one answer fits all approach then some students will succeed and others will invariably fail. Because each person is unique and has a unique mindset and perspective about life, a particular situation or solution presented to two persons will be dealt with in two different ways.
So how do you choose a book, course, seminar, CD or system that will bring about the permanent personal transformation you wanted for yourself'
A system or technique that will bring about self improvement that will be permanent that will not demand too much will power, physical or mental effort on the part of the student. Because the person who seeks self improvement will generally be weak in these areas.
The teacher, mentor or coach and the system they developed, the techniques they use:
1. should recognize the fact that one answer does not fit all individuals.
2. should be flexible so the uniqueness of the student is taken into account.
3. should be able to help the student , if necessary, one on one basis.Personal improvement is such a serious business to be left to be handled with the mass produced books, CDs or courses alone.
4. should be able to offer a free sample -
a lesson from the book or course
material and answer any questions the
student may have. Or even better, offer
a free session of consultation that will
enable the student to experience, first
hand, the fectiveness and benefits of
the program.
If the teacher has taken the above points and incorporated into his program, then you can be pretty sure that the program you have chosen has a better chance of accomplishing at what it set out to do - transforming you into a better person.
